Check price at Patagonia →We source the leather for our work boots from Wild Idea Buffalo Company in South Dakota because of their recognition of the American bison’s role in regenerating the prairie ecosystem of the Great Plains. Long treasured over cowhide for its stronger, more durable and elastic material, bison leather makes an exceptional work boot.

Well-constructed boots with excellent eco-friendly materials and comfortable fit, but lack traction and safety features for actual work use. Better suited as stylish casual wear for those aligned with Patagonia's environmental values.
Strength
- Buffalo hide leather is thick, greasy, and soft with minimal break-in needed
- Eco-friendly wet green tanning method using olive tree waste
- Goodyear welted construction built at quality Hugo factory in Portugal
- Padded tongue for comfort
- High-quality waxed brass-aglet boot laces
- Very comfortable for casual wear after two months of testing
- Recycled foam and cork insoles feel nice underfoot
- Vibram Eco step sole made from 30% recycled rubber
Weakness
- Not truly original design - uses standard catalog boot from Hugo factory
- Shallow tread pattern compromises traction in rough conditions
- No safety features like composite or steel toe
- Poor breathability due to synthetic materials and insole design
- Runs hot due to synthetic toe stiffener, heel counter, and other internal synthetics
